Awakening the Electric Everyday at Hyundai’s Singapore Motorshow 2024

The Singapore Motorshow 2024 ran from 11 to 14 January at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre, drawing over 42,000 visitors across its four-day run. The eighth edition of the annual event featured 126 vehicles from 25 automotive brands, with 22 new car unveilings, 15 of which were electric. It was, by any measure, the most EV-forward edition of the show to date. Visionnaire was appointed as Hyundai’s production management partner for the occasion, holding the brand’s presence together across all four days.

Hyundai arrived with one of the sharpest line-ups on the floor. Three new models were officially launched, all eligible for Category A COE classification: the refreshed Avante Hybrid, the all-new second-generation Kona Electric, and the Ioniq 6 RWD, a rear-wheel drive variant that slipped the aerodynamic fastback into the Cat A segment. The Avante Hybrid married its 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine with a 32kW electric motor, lifting torque from 154Nm to 265Nm and sharpening fuel efficiency by 15 per cent over its predecessor. The Kona Electric launched with a 48.6kWh battery delivering up to 456km of range, and debuted Vehicle-to-Load capability in the model line for the first time. Meanwhile, the Ioniq 6 RWD, priced at $188,888 inclusive of COE, represented perhaps one of the most accessible entry points the Ioniq family had offered to date. Three launches, one booth, one unmistakable direction of travel.

Then there was the Ioniq 5 N. Stationed deliberately at the rear of the display, the 650bhp performance variant of the reigning Straits Times Car of the Year drew a crowd from the moment the doors opened. A widened stance, sharpened automotive fascia, and a 0 to 100km/h time of 3.4 seconds made it the most photographed car at the Hyundai stand, pulling visitors deeper into the space and holding them there. It was not yet available for purchase in Singapore at the time, but its presence at the show was a statement of intent that needed no footnote.

Visionnaire’s booth design was calibrated to serve both audiences simultaneously: the pragmatic buyer weighing up the Cat A trio, and the enthusiast who had made a beeline for the N. Spatial planning and display sequencing gave each model room to breathe without ceding ground to the others, while full on-ground operations management spanned staffing, run-of-show planning and the sustained demands of a high-footfall public event over the full four-day run. The booth’s open, uncluttered aesthetic did its own work as it reinforces the considered brand identity that Hyundai’s Ioniq line had built in Singapore.

Motorshows reward consistency as much as spectacle. Across four days and multiple launches, the Hyundai booth at Suntec did both. The details made the difference, as they always do, with us. For brands who see an event not as a vehicle but as a verdict—Visionnaire is ready. Whether the brief calls for the next generation of mobility or something entirely unprecedented, we bring the same eye to it.
